Wanda Winkler's Obituary
Wanda Glee Winkler, daughter of Herman, Sr. and Verna (Scott) Light, was born November 7, 1929, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, November 18, 2008, in Cox Walnut Lawn, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years and eleven days. In 1947 she was united in marriage to Gene Dennis and to this union one son and two daughters were born. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, in 1976. Also preceding her death were her parents, and two brothers, Herman Light, Jr. and Don Light. In 1978 Wanda was united in marriage to John Winkler Wanda is survived by her husband, John, of the home; a son, Jon Dennis, of Tuscan, Arizona; two daughters, Betsy Dennis, of Toluca Lake, California, and Cyndi Poes, of San Diego, California; two grandchildren, Jill Orsini, and her husband, Tino, of Plano, Texas, and Tim Jackson, of Studio City, California; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Roman Orsini, both of Plano, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was raised in Mansfield and California and graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1947. After she met and married Gene, they moved to San Diego, California, where they lovingly raised their family. After marrying John, they moved back to Mansfield in 1982. Wanda had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was very active in the AWANA. She was also involved in the Ozark Mountain Players. Wanda was a kind and caring person with a big heart. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 21, 2008 at the Mansfield First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Mansfield First Baptist Church. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
