Warren Frank Murrell (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Warren "Frank” Murrell, 95, of Halfway, MO passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hermitage Nursing and Rehab Facility in Hermitage, MO. Frank was born January 25, 1922 in Falcon, MO to Milburn Murrell and Violet Henderson Murrell. Frank was called to serve his country in WWII during high school. After serving three years overseas he returned to Lebanon where he graduated from high school. After high school, Frank worked for Detroit Tool in Lebanon, MO. He then settled in to his farm where he worked as a cattle rancher of over 70 years on the same farm. Working cattle was one of Frank’s favorite activities, something he truly loved till he was 92 years of age. He was meticulous with the care of his cattle and was extremely proud of his Charolais stock. Frank was known as a good, yet simple man who saw no need for extras. Frank was a hard worker, and a tremendous gardener, and loved to talk to everyone about gardening. His garden produced some of the best watermelons and tomatoes around. Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid reader.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Joan Murrell; sisters Ione Simpson of Oakland MO, Anna Eriksson of Eldorado Springs, MO, Julie Hibdon of Eldorado Springs, Alma Bruce of McPherson, KS and June McClure of Las Vegas, NV; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Freddy Murrell and a sister Alice Maxwell.
Services for Frank will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:00 AM prior to services. Burial will be in the Casey Cemetery, Falcon, MO.
