Wayne Addison's Obituary
ADDISON, WAYNE WARREN Age 89, passed away February 19, 2011 at the Preston House in Sherman, Texas. He was one of 10 children born to J.H. and Fannie Pernice Buster Addison on April 4, 1921 near Lebanon, Missouri. Wayne helped his father on the farm and the family saw mill business until joining the U.S. Army in 1943. He liked to tell everyone that he left Missouri heading west and continued heading west until he arrived back in St. Louis at the end of World War II. He spent most of his service time in Iran driving oil trucks to the Russian border. He earned two Bronze Stars. In Missouri after the war, Wayne learned to fly small single engine airplanes earning an instructor rating which allowed him to teach private and commercial flying. In 1946 he moved to Dallas, Texas and became an independent trucker, hauling fresh produce all over the United States. He was united in marriage to Alberta Meiller on January 6, 1962. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1999. Wayne contracted his tractor-trailer truck to Risk Trucking, driving for them several years. He retired from Risk at 65. However, he continued to drive 18-wheelers for several local companies. Lastly, he worked for an independent trucking contractor hauling U.S. Mail between Dallas and Lebanon, Missouri or Dallas and Jackson, Mississippi until the age of 82. Wayne had been a member of Hope Lutheran Church in East Dallas. In 2004 he moved from Dallas to Luella, Texas to be near his sister, Blanche LaFon , and nephew, Allen Hunter. He moved to the Preston House in August of 2009. Surviving are one sister, Blanche LaFon of Luella; one stepdaughter, Jan Meiller Coltrin, of Dallas; one stepson, Bruce Meiller, of Madison, WI. He was "Grandpa Wayne" to six grandchildren, Paige Crosby and family of Dallas; Lisa Meiller and family of Eastbourne, England; Christophor Meiller and family of London, England; Heidi Freeland and family of Madison, WI; Joseph Meiller and family of Madison, WI; and Ethan Meiller and family of WI. There are also eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Graveside service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Washington Cemetery in Lebanon, MO. Memorials may be given to the Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W. Center St, Sherman, TX 75090.
