Wayne Dawes (Bolivar)'s Obituary
John "Wayne" Dawes, 66, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away Thursday evening, October 15, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri. His wife Linda was by his side.
Wayne was born on June 17, 1949, to Robert C. and Ruth Harris Dawes at the Baptist Hospital in Springfield. He spent some of his childhood years in Canajoharie, New York, before the family moved to Bolivar. The family eventually moved to a rural Fair Play area close to Woodlawn where Wayne enjoyed 4-H and the Woodlawn community dinners.
Wayne graduated from Fair Play High School in May of 1967. He served in the Army from February 25, 1969 to February 15, 1971. He did his basic training in Fort Leonard Wood before being stationed in Germany.
Wayne enjoyed the quiet times of hunting in the woods alone or with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and the conversations that ensued with his long-time friend Henry A. Shuler.
He was a member of the Bismont Missionary Baptist Church and the Lake Stockton Area Council of the Blind, an affiliate of the Missouri Council of the Blind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ruth.
Wayne is survived by his wife. Linda Gothard Dawes: four children: Robert Dawes and wife Carie; Michael Dawes; Stephanie Terry and husband Shawn; and Melinda Phillips; his grandchildren: Rebecca Dawes, Megan Dawes, Paige Dawes; Manuel Flores and wife Brittni, Joseph Dawes; Shane Terry, Phoenix Terry, and Rosslyn Terry; and daughter-in-law Kathryn Kersh.
