Wayne De Rossett (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Wayne Eugene DeRossett, age 78, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away early Friday morning, April 26, 2019, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Wayne, the only child of Harold and Maxine (Bond) DeRossett, was born in Morrisville, Missouri on October 7, 1940. Wayne married Norma Jean (Sewell) DeRossett on May 23, 1964. To this union were born two sons, Brent and Eric. Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church of Bolivar.
Wayne was a graduate of Morrisville schools, and was a member of the Morrisville High School class of 1958. Wayne went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Math from Southwest Missouri State College, and later a master’s degree in Math Education from Southwest Missouri State University.
Wayne dedicated his professional life to educating young people, spending 34 years as a high school Math teacher in Pleasant Hope schools, and retiring from Pleasant Hope in 2000 with a total of 37 years teaching high school in the local area. After his retirement from Pleasant Hope, Wayne served 15 years as an adjunct Math instructor at Southwest Baptist University.
Countless students in the area benefited from Wayne’s superior teaching skills and mentorship. His faithful example of quiet and gentle strength will live on in the lives of his wife, his sons, his grandchildren, and the innumerable students he taught over the years.
Survivors included Norma DeRossett, of the home, son Brent DeRossett of Ozark, and his wife, Debbie; Eric DeRossett of Bolivar, and his wife, Denise. Additional family survivors include the grandchildren: Garrett DeRossett of Brooklyn, New York, and his wife, Hope; Nathan DeRossett of Bolivar, and his wife, Jordan; Regan DeRossett of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Aleena DeRossett of Bolivar. Wayne also leaves behind many beloved family members and friends.
Services are being hosted by Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, Missouri. Visitation is Sunday April 28 at the Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral is Monday April 29 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with burial following at Slagle Cemetery.
