Wayne Lee Light (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wayne Lee Light, son of Clarence and Opal Cope Light, was born February 27, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in his home, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, seven months, and fourteen days.
On June 3, 1989, he was united in marriage to Deborah D. Charlton, and they shared the last thirty-three years of happiness and memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Light; an infant brother, Lorain Light; a sister-in-law, Jean; and a brother-in-law, Bill.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Deborah, of the home in Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Leslie Hallick, and her husband, Tommy, of Padre Island, Texas, and Jennifer Grossman, and her husband, Jay, of Kansas City, Missouri; three sons, Russell Light, and his wife, Maria, of St. Joseph, Missouri, Michael Drew and Stephen Drew, both of Kansas City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren,
Shayne, Rylee, Alex, Jacob, Sami, Jack, Michael, Jessica, Rachael, Dicey, and Cole; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Leo, Ana, and Asher; two sisters, Veta Berry, of Kansas City, Kansas, and Jannette Light, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area and graduated from Lebanon High School. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Army, including some time in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to Missouri and began working as a truck driver. He was employed by Yellow Freight Transport for the last thirty years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 41 in Kansas City.
He liked being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, cooking and barbequing. He had a good sense of humor and liked to laugh. He also enjoyed spending time with his family that he loved very much.
Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made with them during his lifetime.
