Wayne McWilliams' Obituary
Wayne Loren McWilliams, age 85 years, 5 months, and 27 days of Harrison, Arkansas, formerly of Mansfield, Missouri, died Thursday, November 22, 2007. He was born in Cato, Kansas, near Fort Scott, June 25, 1922 to Loren and Elsie McWilliams. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lois Olsen; a brother, Lyle McWilliams; a grandson, Donald David; and his great-granddaughter, Jade Marie. Wayne is survived by his wife, Vera, of Harrison, Arkansas; his brother, Owen, and his wife, Juanita, of Joplin, Missouri; his children, Wesley McWilliams, and his wife, Pattie, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, Darell McWilliams, and his wife, Linda, of Goodletsville, Tennessee, Marilyn Meidell, and her husband, Frank, of Harrison, Arkansas, Carol Jordana, and her husband, Jonn, of Ogden, Utah, Terry McWilliams of Pencil Bluff, Arkansas, and his daughter-in-law, Susie DeVries, of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. He married Vera on December 25, 1945 at home in Kansas; they would have been married for 62 years this December. Wayne graduated from high school in 1940 from Arcadia, Kansas. He was a life-long farmer and dairyman and had farmed in Kansas, Washington and Missouri. He worked at Western Washington State College in Bellingham, Washington, as a groundskeeper during the 1960’s and early 1970’s. He was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he held various offices. During his life, he and Vera gave a home to 40 foster children. Surrounded by his family, Wayne passed away Thanksgiving Day from Pulmonary Fibrosis, diagnosed four years ago. He will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007, in the Ava Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be in the Hensley Cemetery, north of Mansfield. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 9:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
