Wayne Moreland's Obituary
Wayne Hartford Moreland, son of Charles and Josephine Lee Moreland, was born August 7, 1913, in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life, with his daughter at his side, Thursday, August 3, 2006, in Lake Regional Health Systems, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, eleven months, and twenty-seven days. On September 17, 1938, in Camden County, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Leona Denny, and to this union one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona, on October 21, 1989; a grandson, Rusty Adams; five brothers, Johnie Sanford, Fon, Arlo, Lloyd, and Clyde Moreland; and two sisters, Ima Jeane Moreland, and Leona Kidd. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Margie Adams, of Camdenton, Missouri; a grandson, Glenn Adams, of Camdenton, Missouri; two great-granddaughters, Jaime Sanchez, of West Point, New York, and Jessica Newman, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in his parents’ home in what is now the Decaturville community, and was raised in Camden County. During the Roosevelt administration, he worked for a short time for the Civilian Conservation Corp in California, and then returned to Missouri. After he and Leona were married, they made their home in the Decaturville community and lovingly raised their daughter. Throughout the years, Wayne was a hardworking farmer and carpenter, and enjoyed being on his tractor and working the land. Wayne was saved in the early 1950’s, at a revival held at the Myetta Missionary Baptist Church with the late Rev. T. L. Marler officiating. He joined the church by baptism and followed the Missionary Baptist faith throughout his life. He had recently attended the Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church with his daughter. He also served on the board of directors of Myetta Cemetery for several years. He liked working outdoors, especially in his corn fields or picking wild blackberries. He enjoyed canning and taking care of his plants, and could often be heard singing his favorite hymn, “Farther Along”, sometimes from rather long distances away. Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2006, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in the Myetta Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorial donations to the Myetta Cemetery Trust Fund may be made through the funeral home.
