William Douglas “Doug” McGuire, son of Paul McGuire and Judy Webster, was born July 16, 1966, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, September 6, 2012, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, one month, and twenty days.
On June 30, 1990, he was united in marriage to Paula Sue “Susie” Murphy, and to this union one daughter was born.
Doug is survived by his wife, Susie, of the home; a daughter, Summer McGuire, and her fiancé, Huey Seely, of Osage Beach, Missouri; his mother, Judy Webster, of Lebanon, Missouri; his father, Paul McGuire, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Todd McGuire, and his wife, Debbie, of Gardner, Kansas; a sister, Paula Archer, and her husband, David, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1984. He graduated from Rhema Bible College in 1986 and later pastored a church in Marshfield, Missouri, for several years. He had also worked for Polar Tanks in Springfield, Missouri. Doug and Susie had made their home on their farm near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their daughter. He was currently working as a bus driver for Joel E. Barber Schools.
Together, Doug and Susie attended Walk on Water Faith Church in Osage Beach, Missouri. Doug was a compassionate person who was always willing to help others.
In his spare time he enjoyed raising cattle and being on the farm. “Katie”, Doug’s horse, recently had a new baby colt, named “Daisy”, which was Doug’s pride and joy. In 2007, he received a heart transplant and bore his illness with great courage and fortitude. He possessed an outgoing personality, never met a stranger, and was well liked by everyone. His family was very important to him and he treasured the time he spent with them.
Doug was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
