On January 2, 1960, Wendell was united in marriage to Donna Jean Rorrer and to this union three daughters and one son were born. Wendell and Donna celebrated fifty-one wonderful years together on January 2, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Delbert Fann.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife, Donna, of the home; his children, Karla Hughes, Jeannie Julian, Sissy Smothers and her husband, Rick, and Myron Fann and his wife, Gabbie, all of Seymour, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Smith, Cody Julian, Patrick Simpson, Kaley Julian, Amber Fann, Austin Fann, and Lindsey Smothers; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Sedlacek, Madison Julian, and Hailey Belle Sedlacek; a sister, Reba Sue Murray, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
He grew up in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1952. In March of 1956, he was inducted into the United States Army and he served his country faithfully until January of 1958. Wendell and Donna were married in 1960 and made their home in Seymour except for a short time that they lived in Springfield. He owned and operated the Seymour Tire Shop for several years and then Fann’s Heating and Plumbing, from which he retired a few years ago when his health began to fail.
He had made his profession of faith in God and was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and making his daily stops at Speedy’s and Wilda’s Cafés for coffee and visiting with his friends.
Wendell was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a good friend and neighbor. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories he made for all who knew and loved him.
