Wesley Hugh Horsley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wesley Hugh Horsley, son of Herbert Lee and Launda Ethel Hodge Horsley, was born May 4, 1938, in Etowah, Arkansas. He departed this life Saturday, September 16, 2017, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, four months, and twelve days.
On November 1, 1969, he was united in marriage to Patsy Kozette Raulston, and to this union two daughters and four sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Drury; and two brothers, Jimmy H. and Herbert M. Horsley.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Patsy, of the home; two daughters, Launda Arrigoni, and her husband, Michael, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Debra Henson, and her husband, Chuck, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; four sons, Jerry Nutt, and his wife, LeAnn, of Tunas, Missouri, Thomas Nutt, and his wife Brenda, and Mitchell Horsley, and his wife, Shari, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Wesley D. Horsley, and his wife, Christella, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; a brother, Bennie Horsley, and his of wife, Mora, of Tulare, California; three sisters, Drussilla Rofkahr, Ethelene Reed, and her husband, David, all of Africa, and LaWanda Downs, of the State of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Arkansas and then moved with his family to California at a young age. He graduated high school in Orosi, California and while living there he enlisted in the military. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for four years. He then began a career in forestry work and was employed by Sequoia Forestry Industries for thirty-eight years before retiring. He moved to Hartville, Missouri for awhile and then made his home in Phillipsburg in 2004, where he worked for M.F.A. and Missouri Cooperage.
Wesley had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Harvest Tabernacle Church.
He loved football and being outdoors. Wesley was described by many as being a strong, silent type, but you listened whenever he spoke. Wesley took good care of his car and took pride in making it look nice. He was a dedicated Harley Davidson fan and enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles. He always put his family first, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wesley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
