Wilburn Thompson (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Wilburn Bryce Thompson, 84, Cabool, MO, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
He was born May 30, 1932 at Simmons, MO, the son of Thomas Oliver and Pauline Snyder Thompson. He graduated from school in Cabool, then worked for 28 years at Mid-America Dairymen, Inc., retiring in 1992. He married Hazel Gann in 1950, and they were married for 58 years. To this union, three children were born, Larry, Judy, and Randy. Wilburn and Hazel lived on a farm that was designated a “Missouri Century Farm,” because it had been in their family for over 100 years. He enjoyed fishing, and playing the bass guitar with the bluegrass band “Good Timers.” He and Hazel also loved to travel, especially to the Black Hills in South Dakota; New Orleans; Red Woods, California; Washington, DC; and Canada. The Simmons Baptist Church was important to him throughout his life. He and Hazel were charter members of the church. Wilburn was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Thompson, son Larry Thompson, granddaughter Nicole Flageolle, and great-granddaughter Alexis Flageolle.
He is survived by two children and their spouses, Judy and Hank Flageolle, Mansfield; Randy and Janene Thompson, Cabool; five grandchildren, Angelia Barnes, Christopher Flageolle, Zachery Flageolle, Marla McGowan, Jason Thompson; nine great-grandchildren Kamryn Barnes, Gabyn Barnes, Oliver McGowan, Olivia McGowan, Randon Brown, Megan Flageolle, Erin Flageolle, Kirsten Flageolle, Navy Ray Flageolle.
