Wilburn Wilson's Obituary
Wilburn Edward Wilson, son of Willie and Mattie Enyart Wilson, was born September 12, 1925, near Drynob, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, December 28, 2009, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, three months, and sixteen days. On August 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Leona I. Burch, and to this union five daughters and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Denise Carvel; a son, Dennis Wilson; a granddaughter, Amanda Alexander; two brothers, Milburn and Floyd Wilson; and a sister, Louise Decker. “Dugar”, as he was often called by his family and friends, is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Leona, of the home; four daughters, Janice Alexander, and her husband, Roy, of Richland, Missouri, Karen Thomas, and her husband, Danny, Brenda Kentner, and her husband, Junior, and Karmen Wilson, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Jim Wilson, of Falcon, Missouri; two sisters, Lillian Doublin Martell, and her husband, Jack, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Lucy Pierce, of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Mount Salem community, where he worked as a logger while he was growing up. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War. For most of his time in the military, he stayed stateside at Fort Carson, Colorado. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Missouri where he worked for the Britzman Sawmill. Once he and Leona were married, they made their home near Falcon, and lovingly raised their children. Wilburn drove a school bus for twenty-five years, and also worked at Detroit Tool, Carmeco Industries, and Howard Construction Company through the years. Wilburn had attended Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. In his spare time he greatly enjoyed fishing. He loved music, played lead guitar and the fiddle, and often sang in musical groups. He especially liked country gospel music and had taught guitar lessons. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughters. Wilburn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the memories he made for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. om Thursday December 31, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday evening 7-8:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
