Wilfred A. West's Obituary
Wilfred Alvin West, son of William Phenous and Maybelle Glenn Blair West, was born on September 25, 1911 in Espyville Station, Pennsylvania. He departed this life Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at his home near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, ten months, and twenty-eight days. On August 26, 1930, he was united in marriage to Emma Irene Davis and to this union two daughters and one son were born. Emma passed away in 1994. Wilfred later married Lynn Ann Schroeder. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William West. Wilfred is survived by his wife, Lynn Ann, of the home; two daughters, Winnie Gardner, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Beatrice Parker, of Orangeville, California; one son, Gary Lee West and his wife Marian, of Wilson, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert West and his wife Melba of the State of Florida; and one sister, Marian Klink, and her husband, Earl, of the State of Pennsylvania; and a number of nieces and nephews. Wilfred was born and raised in the Crawford County, Pennsylvania area and attended school there. He worked at various jobs in the community before he and Emma moved to Conneaut, Ohio. There he worked at Exomet Inc, Company, a foundry, until retiring in 1973. Retirement did not agree with Wilfred and he began working with the Conneaut Township Park District until his second retirement in 1976. Ten years ago, he and Lynn decided to move to Missouri and chose the Lebanon area. He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1955 and had held many leadership positions including Ordinance Worker in the Washington Temple, Oakland Temple, Toronto Temple, and was presently serving in the Family History Library in Lebanon, Missouri. Wilfred enjoyed crafts of all kinds especially cabinet making. Wilfred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2006, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Conniaut, Ohio. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the directioin of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
