Willa May Highfill (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Willa May Highfill, daughter of the late Claude Herman “Levi” and Edna May (Carrier) Nimmo, was born on February 10, 1937 in Charity, MO, and departed this life on May 6, 2018 at her home near Fair Grove, MO. At the time of her passing she was 81 years, 2 months, and 25 days of age.
Willa May was reared in the Charity and Elkland area and attended Hasten Elementary School through the 8th grade before moving to Pleasant Hope with her family. She graduated from Pleasant Hope High School in 1955. After graduation she worked outside of the home until she married Hubert Highfill. She was united in marriage to Hubert Lee Highfill on March 28, 1964 in Springfield, MO, and to this union three children were born, two of whom survive her. They made their home between Fair Grove and Elkland where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking. She always had her soap operas on, and always looked forward to going to garage sales on the weekend. In her later years she enjoyed reading the paper and magazines. Willa May was saved at an early age and faithfully served her Lord and Savior.
Willa May was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Lee; her parents; one son, Eugene Highfill; one brother, Junior Nimmo; one sister, Dortha Poynter; and two grandchildren, Dustin Wright and Jesse Highfill. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda & husband Rick Wright of Elkland, MO and Rebecca & husband Randy Johnson of Halfway, MO; one daughter-in-law, Ginny Highfill of Fair Grove, MO; two brothers, Sherman Dwain Nimmo of Buffalo, MO and David Nimmo of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Viola Johnson of Halfway, MO and Freda Mitchell of Halfway, MO; six grandchildren, Crystal Quick, Ashley Martin, Johnny Wright, Kara Ashton, Katie Highfill, and Joe Johnson; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves other family members and friends who will all truly miss her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Homemakers Plus or the Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund.
