Willard Sullivan's Obituary
Willard Charley Sullivan, the son of Charley & Ada Bishop Sullivan was born March 4, 1922 in Halfway, Missouri and passed away on April 3, 2010 at Northwood Hills Care Center in Humansville, Missouri. He grew up in the Halfway community and entered the Army during World War II at the age of 20. He served four years in France, Germany and Central Europe and was awarded four Bronze Battle Stars and the Meritorious Service Award. Following his return, he was married to Jean Alan Russell for a brief period of time. One son was born to this union. After the marriage ended, he moved to Santa Paula, California where he was employed by the Teamsters Union and the Operators Union as a Motor Grader Operator until his retirement. He was married to Mildred Patterson for twenty-five years and lived in the High Dessert near Victorville, California until her death in 1993. He returned to Bolivar to spend his remaining years near friends and family. He was united in marriage to Margaret Cornell in 1995 and they enjoyed traveling and were active in the Polk County Senior Center until her death in 2007. Willard was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, Opal Ealy and Eva Enyart, and one brother, Don Sullivan. He is survived by his son, Doyle Sullivan of Kansas City, Missouri, three step-sons, Floyd Patterson of Santa Paula, California, Terry Cornell of Bolivar, Missouri, Paul Cornell of Clinton, Missouri, one step-deaughter, Carol Wilson of Bull Head City, Arizona, one grandson, Robert Sullivan of Kansas City, Missouri, one great grandson, Trevor Sullivan of Kansas City, Missouri, two nieces, Sherry (Maggie) Sullivan of Everett, Washington, Mary McKee of Springfield, Missouri, four nephews, Charles Ealy and his wife Shirley who were his caregivers after his return to Bolivar, Missouri, Robert Enyart of Buffalo, Missouri, Jerry Enyart of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Enyart of Bolivar, Missouri, one special cousin, Vernie May Lee, plus many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Brother Ron Erven officiating. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art”, “Where No One Stands Alone”, and “Precious Memories” sung by Lisa Jarvis with Mary Childress playing the piano. Burial will follow at Reed Cemetery south of Halfway, Missouri under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, Missouri with Military Honors provided by the Fifth District Honor Guard of the American Veterans AMVETS Post #114 of Flemington, Missouri. A visitation will be from 9:00-10:00am prior to service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be nephews, Danny Ealy, Elijah Gilden, Ryan Gilden, Robert Enyart, Larry Enyart and Loren Enyart.
