William 's Obituary
William Walter Woods, son of Jonas McKinley and Mildred Yency Riley Woods, was born March 7, 1944, in Lyons, Kansas. He departed this life Friday, April 4, 2008, at his home in Grovespring, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years and twenty-seven days. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel Barnes; and one brother, Steven Richard Woods. Bill is survived by his wife, Wanda Barnes Woods, of the home; two daughters, Nanci Woods, of the State of Iowa, and Tenna Connors, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; a son, Gene Barnes, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; a sister, Cookie Wait, and her husband, Robert, of Waynesville, Missouri; five grandsons; one granddaughter; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in Lyon, Kansas, lived most of his early years in Sioux City, Iowa, and had also lived in several other locations, following his father’s work. After graduating from high school, Bill proudly joined the U. S. Navy. He worked in mid Missouri as a meat packer, later learning the trade and working as a machinist; after moving to Lebanon, he had worked for the Ramey Supermarket. Bill attended the Lebanon Family Church and greatly enjoyed the fellowship he found there. In his spare time he took pleasure in being outdoors, going to the pond to fish, and working in his garden. He possessed a fun sense of humor, constantly joking around, but also had a compassionate heart and was always willing to help others. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the family may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
