William "Sherman" Davis (Lebanon)'s Obituary
William “Sherman” Davis was born November 11, 1933 on the family farm in the area of Grovespring/Morgan, Missouri to Herman Waldo and Neva Lois McCall Davis. Sherman passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025 in Cedarhurst Senior Living in Lebanon, Missouri. He was ninety-one years, five months and sixteen days of age.
Sherman was raised on the family farm, making the third generation to be on the farm.
He attended Morgan Baptist Church with his family and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church at the time of his passing.
Sherman was a graduate of Lebanon High School. On July 13, 1952, he was united in marriage to Susa Mae Amos. They moved to California in 1957 where Sherman would have a career as a Dairy Distribution Manager and would retire from there. Following their thirty-eight years in California, Sherman and Susa were ready to move back to Missouri and reconnect with their roots.
Sherman is preceded in death by his loving wife, Susa, who passed away June 27, 2022 after sixty-nine years of marriage; and his daughter, LaDonna Sue Davis Edwards.
He is survived by his sons, Bradley Davis and his wife Cathy and James Davis and his wife Leslie, all of Lebanon, Missouri; his daughter, Patti Junkel and her husband John of Grovespring, Missouri; a son-in-law, Steve Edwards; his sister, Shirlene Peterson and her husband Clarence; nine grandchildren, William, Matthew, Nathaniel, Justin, Zachary, Andrew, Kimberly, Christopher, and Christine; seventeen great-grandchildren, Charles, James, Lucy, Nora, Tessa, Max, Isi, Bernadette, Helen, Mayme, Landon, Cory, Ashton, Collin, Maleah, Dean, and Mason; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
After Sherman returned to Lebanon, he was active with the “Meals on Wheels” program, as well as the Silver Hair Legislator and served on the Lebanon City Council. He enjoyed politics and was a member of the Laclede County Republican Central Committee for a number of years.
Sherman also liked to have a garden and raised many vegetables for his family and gave produce away to friends.
Sherman was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was a caring and trusted neighbor and friend. He was a good, honorable man who loved and trusted God, worked hard, and always tried to do the right thing. We rejoice in his homecoming and will remember the legacy he left for his family.
A memorial service for Sherman Davis will be Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to Hughes Senior Center and donations may be left at the funeral home.
