William Elliott's Obituary
William Byrd Elliott, son of William Reinehard and Ina Mae Burr Elliott, was born April 22, 1928, in Findlay, Ohio. He departed this life Friday, November 9, 2007, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, six months, and seventeen days. On September 20, 1952, he was united in marriage to Florence Irene Long, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence, on November 7, 1989; and two brothers, Clifford and Carlton Elliott. William is survived by two daughters, Debbie Gonzales, of Azusa, California, and Penny Lynn Razo, of Yukon, Oklahoma; two sons, Chris Elliott, and his wife, Aleksandra, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Mark Elliott, of Dallas, Texas; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Merchant, of Lakeland, Florida; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Ohio and graduated from high school there. He served his country faithfully in the United States Merchant Marines and then the U. S. Navy for several years. After he and Florence were married, they made their home in California, where William worked as a tool maker and machinist at Douglas Aircraft for twenty-seven years. In 1977, he and Florence moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where William owned and operated Elliott’s Cleaning Service until officially retiring in 1991. William was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, particularly deep sea fishing, and greatly liked going to the mountains for rest and relaxation. William was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2007, in the Kingdon Hall of Jehovah's Witnessess in Lebanon, Missouri.
