William R Fowler (Bolivar)'s Obituary
William Robert “Bob” Fowler, age 96, of Flemington, Missouri departed from this life at 10:20pm on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Northwood Hills Care Center in Humansville, Missouri.
He was born June 28, 1916 in La Monte, Missouri, the son of Robert C. Fowler and Emma (Shernaman) Fowler. The eldest of five boys whom all served in the military. He graduated from La Monte High School in 1934.
After high school he served two-three year terms with the Conservation Commission Service. He was inducted in the Army on January 15, 1942. After serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre he was promoted to Sgt. And awarded those ribbons and five overseas bars and honorably discharged in 1945.
On October 9, 1947 he married Ruth Oswald in Sedalia, Missouri. He operated a Standard Oil Station for over 14 years. In 1965 he began work for Lake City, Missouri Army Ammunition Plant and retired in 1983. He then moved to Pomme De Terre Lake. He enjoyed fishing with his wife and grandchildren. The time spent with family on the lake was cherished by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers of La Monte, Missouri.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth Fowler of the home, two daughters, Donna Galler of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Pamela Young of Flemington, Missouri, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers, Harold K. Folwer and Walter C. Fowler both of San Diego, California.
