William J. Hodge (Lebanon)'s Obituary
William Joseph Hodge, son of Adam and Veda Ann Berry Hodge, was born May 23, 1932, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, May 23, 2018, in his home in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years.
On June 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Betty Lou Bryant, and to this union one daughter was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Betty, on June 4, 2009.
“Bill”, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by a daughter, Pamela Sue Neece, and her husband, Scott A., of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Jewel Dutton, and her husband, Paul, of Lebanon, Missouri, Janice Soncarty, and her husband, William, and Mary Jane Wolf, all of Bettendorf, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon area, and attended Merchant School. He then graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1950. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from November 13, 1952, until November 12, 1954, during the Korean War. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Lebanon and to Betty. In 1955, they moved to Davenport, Iowa, where Bill worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company for thirty-four years, retiring in 1990. The family then returned to the family farm, near Lebanon, and Bill raised Black Angus cattle.
Bill was an active member of Eldridge Full Gospel Church where he served as a Deacon and taught a Sunday school class for several years.
He enjoyed working on his farm, raising Black Angus cattle, and gardening. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bill was a loving husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle and a caring friend. We celebrate his life and will remember him as a devoted Christian man who created many wonderful memories for his family and friends.
