William Kent Butler (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mr. William Kent Butler, age 78 of Fair Play, MO passed away at 2:05 PM Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar after a lingering illness.
He was born in Fair Play, MO on March 20, 1933 the son of Gene Butler and Lula Ann (Thomason) Butler.
Kent graduated from Fair Play High School and lived in Independence, MO for most of his adult life. He had retired after 20 years as a Tool Setter for Remington Arms Company in Lake City (near Kansas City, MO) He was a member of a Baptist Church in Independence, MO. After retirement he moved to Fair Play, MO in 1990.
He was united in marriage to Erma J. (Wilson) Skaggs on March 26, 1992 in Brunswick, MO.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was an avid fisherman and loved fish fries.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Lula Butler and his two sisters, Mildred Rickman and Mary Bell Johnson.
Surviving is his wife Erma J. Butler of the couple’s home in Fair Play, Three daughters, Ann Yokley, Jane Butler and Penny Spaulding all of Independence, MO, a step-daughter, Donna Smith of Waverly, MO and a step-son, Ray Skaggs of Moberly, MO. Also his two sisters, Eujean Dody of Bolivar, MO and Marie Davis of Fair Play, MO. Three Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of many friends.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Lindley Prairie Cemetery west of Fair Play with Dr. Ron McIntire officiating. Burial will be under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
