William Moody's Obituary
William Ellis Moody, son of Marion A. “Ott” and Minnie Findley Moody was born July 2, 1926 near Mansfield, Missouri. He departed this life on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in his home in Taneyville, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years, nine months and six days. On September 15, 1966, Bill was united in marriage to Marla Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Orbin; three brothers, Lynn, Morris and Junior Moody. Bill is survived by his wife, Marla of the home, two sons, Kenny Moody and his wife Karen of Forsyth, Missouri and Bradley Moody and his wife Kim of San Jose, California; his daughter Angela Adler and her husband Harrison of Auburn, California; a brother, Wayne Moody and his wife Dorothy of Seymour, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Phillip, Ryan, Johnny, Shane, Tyler, Andrea, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, Hannah and Abigail; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Rhiannon and Tanner; a brother-in-law, Walt Orbin of Clark, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Bill was raised in Mansfield and served his country faithfully in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for John Deere in Moline, Illinois for 32 years retiring in 1979. In 1980, Bill, Marla and Kenny moved to Mansfield to make their home and moved to Taneyville, Missouri ten years ago. Bill attended the Church of Christ and was a member of the Moline Lodge No. 1014, A.F. & A.M. in Moline, Illinois for over fifty years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and canning. He was quite a handyman and could fix just about anything. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday April 10, 2010 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield. Burial will be in the Ashley Cemetery. Masonic services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
