William "Bill" Pomeroy (Bolivar)'s Obituary
William Daniel Pomeroy, 67, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in Bolivar, Missouri. He was born on July 25, 1956. Bill passed away from a heart attack while doing what he loved best, hauling cattle in his black Peterbilt with his faithful companion, Grit by his side.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Fair Grove, Missouri and wore many hats throughout his lifetime. At a young age of 17, Bill started his trucking career. He had a passion for hauling cattle and grain. In 2007 he graduated from the Missouri Sheriffs Association Training Academy and from there he went to work for the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. He later served in Walnut Grove as the Chief of Police. He retired on June 4, 2018, after serving the community for 7 years. Following his retirement he went back to doing what he loved best, trucking.
In Bill’s free time he loved riding his motorcycle, talking with friends and telling stories. He also enjoyed farming, baling hay, and rolling the fields. After hauling cattle up and down the road, he took pride in cleaning his truck and trailer. In Bill’s earlier years, he was a part of the “Freedom Band” and played many instruments. Their band traveled to fairs and created many records. He especially had a passion for playing the guitar and lived his life to the fullest with stories to last a lifetime.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Peggy Sue Pomeroy, his wife Sandra Barclay, and his brother Mike Pomeroy.
He is survived by his children Daren Pomeroy, Chris and wife Rebecca Pomeroy, and Shelly Pomeroy. His grandchildren, Dalton and wife Lynette Pomeroy, Colton and wife Kaela Pomeroy, Marila Pomeroy, Marenna Pomeroy, Bethannie Novak, Cheyanne Stewart and husband Chevy, Cash Pomeroy, Dally Pomeroy and his great grandchildren, Dawson Pomeroy, Elly May Pomeroy, Crew Pomeroy, and Sage Stewart. His sister Julie Barnett and husband Steve, along with their son Anthony Barnett. Bill is also survived by his stepchildren LaDonna Barclay-Madden and Jerry Barclay.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Billings, Missouri.
Services are under the care and direction of Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
