William J. Rogers (Bolivar)'s Obituary
William Jearl “Bill” Rodgers, age 80, of Bolivar, Missouri departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born in Goodson, Missouri on October 29, 1932 the son of Dewey George Rodgers and Alza Elizabeth (Samples) Rodgers. Bill was saved at an early age at Goodson Missionary Baptist Church.
On November 7, 1952 Bill was united in marriage to Lois Stevens, to this union were born two children, Buddy and Teresa. Shortly after their marriage Bill was called to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for the majority of his deployment.
Bill was a cattleman. He loved working the farm with his son Buddy and caring for his horses and cows. It was sometimes said that Bill fed the cows better than his family, while this wasn’t exactly true, he did take great care of his livestock. He also operated a bulldozer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Alza Rodgers and his sister, Emma Lou Farmer.
He is survived by his wife Lois Rodgers of the home, son, Buddy Rodgers of Bolivar, daughter, Teresa Stewart and her husband Steve of Lebanon, Missouri, and three grandchildren, Stephanie Rachael (Stewart) Hall and her husband Jeff of Joplin, Missouri, Christopher Stephen Stewart of Lebanon and Hannah Elizabeth Stewart of Lebanon.
