William Ruby (Camdenton)'s Obituary
William Joseph Ruby, son of John Fred and Margaret Hartauver Ruby, was born February 13, 1931, in Roseland, Illinois. He departed this life Tuesday August 17, 2010, in his home, Roach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, six months and four days.
On February 16, 1952, in Roseland, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann VanDerhye and to this union four daughters were born. Together they shared the past fifty-eight years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ruby, of the home; four daughters, Debbie Adams of Park Forest, Illinois, Lori Nelson and husband Paul of Whittier, California, Sandy Adams and husband Gene of South Chicago Heights, Illinois, and Janet Boothe and husband Todd of Linn Creek, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Alexis Wilson and husband Charles of Park Forest, Illinois, Jason Boothe and wife Erica of Camdenton, Missouri, Jamie Dudley and husband Jamey of Camdenton, Missouri, Cody Adams of Park Forest, Illinois, Joshua Adams of Park Forest, Illinois, Nolan Adams of San Diego, California, Michael Boothe and wife Megan of Camdenton, Missouri, Daniel Adams of Park Forest, Illinois, and Collin Adams of South Chicago Heights, Illinois; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Sromek and husband William of Roach, Missouri, and Dorothy O'Donnell and husband Tom of Broomfield, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Bill was raised in Roseland, Illinois, and was a graduate of Pullman Tech in Roseland. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Crete, Illinois, where he began a career with Illinois Bell Telephone. He retired in 1980 after thirty years of service to the company. He and Dorothy retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1986.
He was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton.
Bill was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5923 in Camdenton. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and wood working. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
