William L. Smith (Camdenton)'s Obituary
William Leroy Smith, son of Royce and Mary McQueary Smith, was born, June 13, 1943 in Kankakee, Illinois. He departed this life, Sunday, December 13, 2015, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-two years and six months.
On January 2, 1965 in Bonfield, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Ronda Louise Orwig and to this union one son was born. Together they shared fifty years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a favorite uncle and aunt, Albert and Hazel Hunt and a brother-in-law, Doug Hays.
Survivors include his wife, Ronda Smith of Camdenton, Missouri; a son, Michael Smith of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Joyce Hays of Jackson, Missouri; three brothers, Dick Smith and wife Judy of Floral City, Florida, Monty Smith and wife Sandy of Herscher, Illinois and Steve Smith and wife Rhonda of Kankakee, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Bill was raised in Illinois and lived in various places, including several years with his aunt and uncle. He graduated high school in Reddick, Illinois. He attended the Career Technical Institute in Chicago were he learned paint and auto body repair. He worked on cars doing auto body for most of his working life. He was excellent at what he did and only settled for perfection. In 1969, he and Ronda started Hyd-A-Way Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks.
He was a member of the Camdenton Moose Lodge. His passion was cars, especially muscle cars. In his younger years he did cross-county motorcycle rides. Most of all, his family was special to him.
Memorial donations may be made to the family or Dogwood Animal Shelter and left at the funeral home.
