William Wayne Rice (Bolivar)'s Obituary
William Wayne Rice, age 88, of Aldrich, Missouri passed away Thursday morning, July 8, 2010 at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.
He was born September 22, 1921 in Aldrich, Missouri to Orville Cowan Rice and Velma Gladys (McDonald) Rice. He grew up and lived in Aldrich, Missouri for many years prior to moving to Bolivar a few years ago.
Wayne was a Car Salesman for the Mayse Motor Company in Springfield, Missouri for many years and also owned his own Rice Auto Sales up until his health no longer allowed him to work in 2008. He also farmed for many years.
Wayne was a United States Army Veteran and served during the World War II era. He was a fifty years plus member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge.
On January 19, 1940 he married Wilda Mae (Lowery) Rice in Aldrich, Missouri. She passed away in 1976. He then married Ellen Nadine (Shaddy-Brown) Rice on June 3, 1978 in Niangua, Missouri. She passed away on May 19, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia A. Rice in 2005, a brother, Mac Rice and his sister, Elda Mae Rice.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Kenna Presley and her husband Ray of Bolivar, Missouri, two stepdaughters, Janet Cantrell and her husband Richard of Springfield, Missouri, Joyce Hooser and her husband Paul of Overland, Park, Kansas, a brother, James Rice of Aldrich, Missouri, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Aldrich, Missouri next to his wife, Wilda. Musical selections will be “Precious Memories”, “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow”, and “Take My Hand Precious Lord”. Music will be sung and played by Ron & Barbara George. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm, Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Pallbearers will be Jody Presley, Chad Presley, Todd Cantrell, Brad Cantrell, Jason Newkirk and Jared Barker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cliff Rice, Gary Rice, Gene Rice, Rex Rice, Bob Lowery and Bill Lowery.
