Wilma Bowersox (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wilma Lorraine Bowersox, daughter of George Wesley and Frances Myrtle Gordon Shockley, was born April 30, 1924, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months, and sixteen days.
In 1965, she was united in marriage to Willard Bowersox, who preceded her in death in 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George J. Rogers; a step-daughter, Evelyn Bowersox; and two brothers, John and Charles Shockley.
Wilma is survived by a daughter, Patricia Rogers, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, George Ryan, and his wife, Sherry, Mark Ryan, and his wife, Jan, Fred Gann, and his wife, Millie, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and John Rogers, of Greeley, Colorado; five step-children, Ken Bowersox of the State of Colorado, Joy Jacobsen, Wanda Koltak, both of the State of Arizona, and Lynn Bowersox, and Ginger Lamson of the State of Nevada; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area. She then made her home in Greeley, Colorado for several years. During these years, Wilma was a devoted homemaker to her family and also worked as a dental technician. Later, she owned and operated a service station for a few years. Eventually, she returned to Lebanon, and made her home.
Wilma followed the Baptist faith throughout her life, and had attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing needlework projects, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables in her garden, and playing Bingo. She liked to dance and was particularly fond of the jitterbug. She possessed a delightful sense of humor and loved to tease her family and friends. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Wilma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
