Wilma Cales (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mrs. Wilma Thomason Cales, age 89 of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on September 17, 2012 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born on March 20, 1923, the daughter of Thomas Riley Thomason and Eula Dale (Martin) Thomason on a farm West of Hinton, Oklahoma.
Wilma attended grade school at a county school, Pleasant View, and graduated from High School at Hinton, Oklahoma.
She accepted the Lord at an early age and became a member of Bethel Methodist Church and was very active in the church.
Upon graduating from high school she moved to Wichita, Kansas and went to work for Cessna Aircraft during the war. There she met Merle E. Cales whom she married on October 30, 1943. To this union were born two children, Jean and Dwaine.
Wilma loved to sew, making most of Jean’s clothes as a child, and sewed a lot for the grandchildren. She also made many quilts, at least one for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to crochet, making each one in the family an afghan and other things they all loved. She enjoyed golf and bridge and was active in the ladies group at the Bolivar United Methodist Church in which she was a member. She was also a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Nathan, three brothers and three sisters.
Wilma is survived by her husband, of 68 wonderful years together, Merle E. Cales, a daughter, Jean Lunt of Lamar, Colorado, and one son, Dr. Dwaine Cales and his wife Margaret of Joplin, Missouri, five grandchildren, Josh, Jessica, Joy and Joseph Cales, Amy Lunt, ten great grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Felix of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Louise Thomason of Farmington, New Mexico and Alma Mae Leavell of Winfield, Kansas.
