Wilma Lindsey Ward (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wilma Lorea Dame Rowden Lindsey Ward, daughter of Everett E. and Nellie G. Hawk Dame, was born December 24, 1926, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, March 21, 2021, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, two months, and twenty-eight days.
On November 9, 1942, she was united in marriage to Francis Hershel Rowden and they shared several years.
In 1951, she married Clarence Lindsey who preceded her in death on December 9, 1974.
In 1994, she was united in marriage to William F. Ward, who preceded her in death in 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kay Rowden; a son, Denzil Lindsey; and a brother, Loran Dame.
Wilma is survived by two daughters, Joan Hart, and her husband, Milan, and Lois Nichols, and her fiancé, Paul Smith, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, Kenneth Lindsey, and his wife, Susan, of Lebanon, Missouri, Donnie Lindsey, and his wife, Donna, of Springfield, Missouri, Leon Lindsey, and his wife, Judy, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Delbert Lindsey, and his wife, Linda, of Nixa, Missouri; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Flatwoods area in Laclede County, Missouri. She lived most of her life in the Lebanon area except for a few years when she made her home in Ohio. Throughout the years, Wilma was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. For a time she worked as a cook at Brentwood House in Lebanon.
Wilma made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Taylor Avenue Church of God for several years. She later was a member of Oakland Heritage Church of God.
She enjoyed doing needlepoint and embroidery, was an excellent cook and liked growing flowers. She also enjoyed doing craft projects, working puzzles, and studying her family’s genealogy. Most of all she liked making a wonderful home for her family which she loved very much.
Wilma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the special memories she created for them during her ninety-four years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 26 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
A memorial to the Flatwoods Cemetery has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
