Woodrow Scroggins' Obituary
Woodrow Simpson Scroggins, age 93, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born February 9, 1916 in Bolivar, Missouri to John Scroggins and N. “Narnie” Elizabeth Chilton Scroggins. He was a Farmer all his life and enjoyed gardening, family and friends. He lived on that farm all his life. On April 9, 1938 he married Lois Helena Harris in Polk County, Missouri. He was a member of the Rural Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Scroggins, two sisters, Golden Brakebill and Mae Cline, a niece, Ruth Brakebill and a nephew, Terry Alley. Woodrow is survived by his wife of 71 years, Helen Scroggins of the home, a son, Dale Scroggins of Bolivar, Missouri, a daughter, Beverly Rovenstine of Bolivar, Missouri, three grandchildren, Ted Rovenstine, Chuck Rovenstine, Zella Simpson, and seven great grandchildren, Devon Rovenstine, Justin Rovenstine, Jarrett Rovenstine, Hallie Jo Rovenstine, Shelia Simpson, Daliah Simpson and Alexie Simpson. Two nephews, R.J. Serls, Jr., Charles Serls, three nieces, Neta Jenkins, Johnnie Bays, Connie Good, great nephew, Scott Glendenning and a great great nephew, Nick Glendenning. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Bro. Joe Sprague officiating. Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace” and “Peace In The Valley” all by Elvis Presley. Burial will follow at Slagle Cemetery south of Bolivar, Missouri under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home ofBolivar. A visitation will be from 5-7pm, Tuesday evening at the Butler Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ted Rovenstine, Chuck Rovenstine, Billy Simpson, Danny Hubbert, Billy Fieth and Dean Altic. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Watson, Danny Kates, Johnny Jackson, Rocky Altic, Terry Altic and Shawn Altic.
