Yvonne Irene Goodwin (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Yvonne Irene Goodwin, daughter of Clarence and Elva Kennett Thomas, was born March 29, 1923, in Old Linn Creek, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, seven months, and fifteen days.
On April 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lowell C. Goodwin, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell, on January 5, 1978; a son, Kenny Goodwin; a son-in-law, Michael Logue; a great-granddaughter, Cassandra Reed; six brothers, Clarence Jr., Kennie, Floyd, Toy, Loraine, and Olon; and two sisters, Eden and Opal.
Yvonne is survived by two daughters, Sandra Logue, of Springfield, Missouri, and Tamara Lynch, and her husband, Chris, of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Goodwin, of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Yvone Tietze, and her husband, Eric, Leslie Richins, and her husband, Clarke, Amy Null, and her husband, Brent, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Joshua Goodwin, and his wife, Tamisha, and Jeremy Goodwin, all of Kansas City, Missouri; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Stoutland community, in Camden County, and graduated from Stoutland High School in the Class of 1941. After she and Lowell were married, they made their home in Kansas City, Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Yvonne was always a devoted homemaker to her family and later worked in the offices of the Hallmark Corporation for several years, retiring in the early 1980’s. She soon returned to Lebanon and made her home.
Yvonne had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting, dancing, and working crossword puzzles. She liked watching television and particularly enjoyed her favorite programs, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Family Feud”. She was an excellent cook and was a wonderful pie maker. She also liked listening to Country Western music. She could be described as being flashy and spunky, but was always stylish. She possessed a kind heart and dearly loved her “Grand dogs”. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Yvonne was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-six years.
