Zachery Wamsher (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Zachary John Wamsher, age 42, of Halfway, Missouri, passed away at his home, near Halfway, on February 2, 2018.
He was born on November 28, 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved with his family to the San Gabriel Valley area in California, at the age of six, where he grew up and attended junior high. They then moved to Colfax, Iowa, where he graduated high school in 1994.
Zachary knew at a young age that he wanted to be in the military, he enlisted in the Army at the age of twenty-three. He honorably served two tours in Iraqi Freedom. After serving, he continued to live in Riley County, Kansas, and served as a volunteer fireman, a Reserve Deputy Sherriff, and took some EMT courses.
In 2014 he moved to Polk County to be close to the love of his life, and future wife, Michelle. They were united in marriage on April 4, 2015.
Zach was a jack of all trades. He loved figuring out the problem, and then solving it. He could often be found out in the barn, tinkering with things. He could fix almost anything, and would tell Michelle, with a grin, “aren’t you glad you married someone so handy.”
He loved living out in the country, having a piece of land he could call his own, and having animals on his land to take care of. If he wasn’t out working on his land, some other things he enjoyed were, fishing, playing video games, listening to music, watching the history channel, and his ham radios. Zach was a military enthusiast and loved to carry on conversations about the service with anyone who would listen.
He was always quick to help others, and had the natural spirit of a servant, but of all the things he loved, he cherished his family most.
Zach is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted Gathercole, and Zacharij and Berta Zajcew, God parents: Jesus and Maria Carrillo.
Survivors include his wife Michelle, of the home; children, Zacharij Wamsher Jr, Makenna Wamsher, Rylee Wamsher, Casen Wamsher; step-children, Tyler Morris and Kendall Morris; mother, Getty Zajcew, and her partner, Juan Carrillo; brother, Nicolas Wamsher, his wife Andrea, and their children Nicoli, Hailey, and Tevin; grandmother, Martha Gathercole, and a large extended family.
