Zalene Todd's Obituary
Zalene D. Todd, daughter of Charles H. and Pearl Ann Mackey Brazeal, was born May 15, 1918 in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, July 19, 2010 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, two months, and four days.
On June 14, 1941, Zalene was united in marriage to Roscoe Edwin “Bus” Todd. Together they shared forty-five years until his passing in November of 1986.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; as well as a brother, Joe Bob Brazeal.
Zalene is survived by her sister, Helen Fry of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Bill Brazeal and wife Zella, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
She was born in Wright County and spent most of her life in the area. Following her marriage to Bus, they made their home on their farm for several years. After selling the farm, she spent time working other jobs before working at Fuge’s Grocery and the MFA Exchange, retiring after several years in the business.
Zalene moved to Springfield in 2001 to live with her sister Helen, and was a resident at Christian Health Care East at the time of her passing.
Zalene was an excellent cook, and took great pleasure in providing her family with their favorite foods, even if it meant cooking several different pies and desserts for the same meal.
She was known for her green thumb and had a knack for growing some of the most beautiful flowers in the area. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and making afghans for her nieces and nephews.
Zalene was a loving sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and her many accomplishments, and will cherish the many memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
