Zella Baumgartner's Obituary
Zella Fay Baumgartner, daughter of Walter and Nina Brown Grisham, was born November 8, 1914, near Montreal, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, January 8, 2012, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-seven years, and two months.
On July 4, 1931, she was united in marriage to Ted Burns, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
On October 18, 1971, she married Paul Baumgartner and they shared several years before his passing.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Warren and Herman Grisham; and an infant sister, Eunice Grisham.
Zella is survived by a son, Bob Burns, and his wife, Peggy, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Faye Willard, and her husband, Wayne, of Sleeper, Missouri; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Honey, of Bolivar, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She lived most of her life in the Sleeper community, and attended Stoutland Schools. Throughout the years, Zella was a devoted homemaker to her family, and also worked as a cook at various places for a number of years. She had been a cook at the Theta Xi Fraternity House in Rolla, Missouri, for a few years.
Zella had professed her faith in Christ and had attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, during her younger years. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time, she enjoyed doing embroidery, and had a great affection for animals. She particularly enjoyed her two favorite dogs, ?Lucky? and ?Maggie?. She loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Zella was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
