Alice Louise McClanahan, daughter of Glen Gideon and Mildred Iona Hamilton, was born July 15, 1931 in Deep Water, Missouri. She departed this life early Sunday morning, surrounded by her family, at the age of 88.

She is survived by her three loving children, Jack McClanahan and his wife Laura, of Grovespring, Missouri, Connie Northern and her husband Johnny, of Niangua, Missouri, Alan McClanahan of Grovespring, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Robert, Sarah, Jacob, Peggy, Tiffney, Troy, and Allison; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew, Ron Hightower, Linda Hightower, and Cathy Hightower; and many caring friends.
Alice was born in Deep Water, Missouri and spent some of her younger years there before she and her family moved to North Kansas City where she continued her childhood. Alice graduated from high school in North Kansas City in 1949. She lived and worked in the Kansas City area for a long time before her health gave her the opportunity to move to Olive Branch, Mississippi to live with her daughter. In 2012, she moved with her daughter up to Wright County where she continued to live out her life.
Alice was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of a Methodist Church in Kansas City.
In her spare time, especially in her younger years, Alice loved to bowl and spend time at the Lake of the Ozarks. When her health began to decline, she really enjoyed reading and crochet. She would often make infant and children outfits to give to local churches that were in need. She also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and when the game was over, Alice would like to turn to whatever golf tournament was on to see the final round. Most importantly, Alice loved her family with all her heart. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. We celebrate her wonderful life and we will always cherish the many happy memories she created.
Memorials may be made to Integrity Hospice and left at the funeral home.
