Amie Lansdown's Obituary
Amie Lansdown, daughter of Low Arthur Conard and Edna Chambers Moore, was born June 5, 1919 in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, July 21, 2012 in Cox Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, one month, and sixteen days.
On January 8, 1938, Amie was united in marriage to Virgil Hubert Lansdown and to this union five children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil, on November 29, 1973; a son, Harold “Shorty” Lansdown; a great-granddaughter, Tiana Stubbs; two brothers, Eugene Moore and James Arthur Moore, who died in infancy; and three sisters, Mamie Calton, Lola Jackson, and Pauline Trevino.
Amie, who was known to many by the name “Dood” is survived by her children; Clifford Lansdown and wife Sue of Hartville, Missouri, Wanda Lathrom and husband Earl Dean of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Howard Lansdown and wife Betty and Delvin Lansdown and wife Diane, all of Hartville, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Judy Lansdown of Hartville, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; thirty great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aleth Dugger and Virginia Craver, both of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Dood was a lifelong resident of Wright County and attended Tharpe and Evening Shade grade schools in her younger years.
She was of the Pentecostal Faith and attended Red Hill, Sunshine, and Hill Top Pentecostal Churches throughout her life. She was a God-fearing woman who put her faith in Christ and followed the path He had set for her.
Dood centered her life around her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with each and every child and grandchild.
In her spare time, Dood enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting, and she crocheted many beautiful rugs throughout her life. Most of the rugs she had made are still being used in various homes throughout Wright County. Dood also enjoyed going to sales and auctions, where she made many friends along the way.
Amie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and her many accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
Funeral services for mrs. Lansdown will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday July 25, 2012 in Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri. Burial will follow in Steele Memorial Cemetery, Hartville.
Visitationwill be from 7-8:30 Tuesday evening in the Funeral Home.
