Jana & Cody, my heart goes out to you today. I know you are hurting but please always remember how much Dave loved and cared for you. Oh yes, I know he liked to pretend he was all tough and strong but he couldn't hide the twinkle in his eyes or the smile on his face when he spoke of the two of you. Jana, I remember you faithfully fixing his lunch each day, which by the way, he usually had eaten by 09:00 or 10:00 a.m. Cody I remember how proud he was when he talked about how well you played in sports, or about the you guys going bowling on Saturday. I can't forget the act he put on and how he pretended to be mad when Buddy showed up on your doorstep and how mad he claimed he was when you, Cody, fed Buddy the chicken that Jana had cooked and left in the refrigerator for Dave. The next thing we knew it was Dave and Buddy going for a walk and Dave and Buddy watching T.V. and how smart Buddy was. I still remember some of silly songs he used to sing. Of course I never learned more than the first verse because after the first verse, Dave would start chuckling to himself and never finish the song. Even after he retired, we continued to think of the three of you as family and we are certainly thinking of you today. Dave was one of a kind. Whatever job he was doing, he gave it his all. I am thankful for the opportunity to have known and worked with him.
Every time I called, Dave would answer the phone, he always ask if I needed any firewood, or when was I going to be ready to pick up some for wood, it was our little joke. I never needed any fire wood as he knew I didn't even burn wood. Once for his birthday, I decorated a cake that resembled firewood. He was always joking, I'm sure many will miss that in him. He will be greatly missed.
I shared many clients with David over our years at P&P. We had many memorable moments in those days! He was always a pleasure to work with. He was a very nice man and he will be missed. Prayers of comfort for your family Dave!!
