On November 29, 1942, she was united in marriage to James H. Fowler, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on August 10, 2011; a brother, Ferrell Baker; and a sister, Patricia Jennings.
Dixie is survived by two daughters, Toni McFarland, and her husband, David, and Geraldine Evans, and her husband, Bobby, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Steve Fowler, and his wife, Janice, and Jimmie Joe Fowler, and his wife, Judy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Tellmo Baker, and his wife, Patricia, of San Angelo, Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Filly and Eldorado Springs, Missouri communities, and graduated from Eldorado Springs High School. After she and James were married, they made their home in Eldorado Springs and then in Lebanon, where they lovingly raised their family. Dixie was a devoted homemaker to her husband, and children and operated a day care center for several years. She also assisted her husband in his construction business through the years.
Dixie loved music and, as a teenager, sang and picked with her friend, Hazel, and her dad. She was an excellent yodeler and that was her favorite thing to do. She enjoyed traveling and she and James made trips in their RV all across the country. Dixie was a feisty lady that was always willing to share her opinions. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Dixie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-four years.
