Linda Atkinson is my sister so I had the privilege of knowing Donald on a personal level. I had the honor of going to stay with Linda and Johnny one summer for a couple of months. During this stay I got to sit with Donald on the porch or in the house, depending on the weather, while his Mother went into town for a little while. We would watch the BIG farming tractors go by and Donald would holler REAL LOUD if he liked it or stick out his tongue if he didn't. It was so funny to be with him!
Donald wasn't too happy when Linda told him I was getting married a few years later. So when my husband and I went to NC together for the first time, Donald stuck out his tongue at my husband. We all laughed. I loved him just the same. Over the years he has come to love my husband and my husband thinks the world of Donald!
We also had the HONOR of seeing Donald be baptized in Jesus Name in Johnny & Linda's sauna tub! What a BLESSING!
He will be greatly missed by us as he has stayed in our home lots of nights! But I know he is having the time of his life now and would not want to return to this life. We will be reunited one day!
