Donald Carey Atkinson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Donald Carey Atkinson, son of John Carey and Ruth Parrish Atkinson, was born April 22, 1953, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He went on before us to be with our Lord Jesus, on Sunday, June 28, 2015, in Montpelier, Idaho, at the age of sixty-two years, two months, and six days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Catherine Louise Atkinson.
Donald is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Stewart and Linda Winkler Atkinson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends from coast to coast.
He was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and lived in Wendell, North Carolina with his parents for most of his life. He used to follow his parents into the tobacco fields in his stroller so that he could be part of the farm activities. After his parents passed away in 2002 and 2005, he lived with his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Linda, and made his home with them for the last ten years. They had moved to Lebanon, Missouri about eight years ago and Donald liked living in Missouri.
Donald had attended Harvest Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Lebanon and truly enjoyed going to services.
He liked anything to do with farming and tractors and loved to travel and see new things, especially if it involved farm equipment. John Deere tractor stores were always a favorite. Donald was blessed to live a long life filled with many adventures and possessed a tremendous zeal for living. He had truly enjoyed his trip to Idaho with Johnny and Linda.
Donald was a loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and was a caring friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice, and left at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Cemetery in Zebulon, North Carolina
