Elizabeth "Helen" Massey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Elizabeth Helen (Larimore) Massey, daughter of Johnny Joseph and Jessie Loetta (McFall) Larimore, was born October 22, 1931, near Phillipsburg, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in her home with her family by her side, at the age of ninety years, eleven months, and twenty-six days. Heaven has truly gained a beautiful Angel.
In 1949, she was blessed to meet the young man whom she would spend the next 66 years by his side. James Francis Massey was stricken with such great love for Helen and asked for her father’s blessing to marry her. On November 3, 1949, they were united in marriage and to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis, on December 9, 2015; a son, Jerry Lee Massey; and two brothers, Johnny Joseph Larimore, Jr. and Ronnie Lee Larimore.
Helen is survived by a son, Don Massey, and his wife, Judy of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Mary Massey, of Camdenton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Danny, Michelle, Stacy, Nicole, and Randy; four great-grandchildren, Haile, Courtney, Evan and Kaiden; a brother, Kenneth Larimore, and his wife, Shirley, of Conway, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was primarily raised in the Phillipsburg area and after she and Francis were married, they made their home in Phillipsburg and lovingly raised their sons. She has shared fond memories of working for a time with her Dad, and was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She and Francis owned and operated a general store in Phillipsburg where many remember buying candy and soda pop from their store. She was very active in her community, and throughout the years had shown kindness to so many. Whether it was farming, planting, and raising a garden, tending to her flowers or mowing the yards, she enjoyed staying busy.
Helen cherished her family and friends and it brought her great joy to sit on her porch and share stories with her loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a caring friend and neighbor. She will be truly missed and fondly remembered in her hometown, The Village of Phillipsburg.
We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories she made for them during her ninety years.
A memorial has been established to the Kidney Foundation and memorials may be left at the funeral home.
