Elsie I Overbay (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Elsie Irene Overbay, daughter of Lloyd and Lucinda Pennington Simons, was born January 24, 1921, in Atkins, Virginia. She departed this life Friday, May 22, 2015, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, three months, and twenty-eight days.
On April 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to Noah Overbay, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Noah, on January 3, 1983; a daughter, Shirley Lidke; and a son, Richard Allen Overbay, Sr.
Elsie is survived by a daughter-in-law, Linda Overbay, of Lebanon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Beverly Tubbs, and her husband, Allen, Melissa Overbay, John Adams, and his wife, Kelly, Richard Overbay, Jr., all of Lebanon, Missouri, Cynthia Dunkin, and her partner, Crystal Crespin, of Falcon, Missouri, Jason Adams, and his wife, Amy, of San Antonio, Texas, Rev. Anthony Lidke, and his wife, Nanette, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Jeffrey Lidke, and his wife, Lydia, of Rising Sun, Maryland, Bob Lidke, and his wife, Sue, of Abingdon, Maryland, Elizabeth De George, of the State of Wisconsin, and John Lidke, and his wife, Pam, of Darlington, Maryland; thirty-four great-grandchildren, Joey, Nic, Chris, Paige, Cody Lawrence, David, Brian, Sara, Jennifer, Ricky, Ryan, Madison, Caleb, Coda, Cheyanne, Colton, Conner, Malori, J. P., Paul, Noah, Robert, Nathan, Coty, Hunter, Autumn, Jessica, Amanda, Dakota, Sierra, Neil, Elexa, and Solomon; six great-great-grandchildren, Carrissa, Dillon, Mason, Annabelle, Jason, Jr., and Amelia; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She lived most of her life in Virginia and Maryland and was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She also worked in the housekeeping department at Harford Memorial Hospital in Harve de Grace, Maryland for twenty years. In 2007, she moved to Lebanon, Missouri, to be with her son and daughter-in-law.
Elsie made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She was happiest while working in her garden where she grew beautiful flowers. She was a wonderful cook and liked making her family’s favorite dishes for them. She was a kind and gentle lady who never met a stranger. She was steadfast in her convictions and believed in speaking her mind. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her children and all of her many grandchildren.
Elsie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-four years.
A memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
