Eugene Barr (Hartville)'s Obituary
Billy Eugene Barr was born April 21, 1928 in Fuson, Missouri, to Archie Alvin and Lillian Addie Pownall Barr. He departed this life Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in his home at the age of eighty-four years, five months, and twenty-five days.
On Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950, Eugene was united in marriage to Betty Ann Wood and to this union two sons and three daughters were born.
His parents; two brothers, Earl and Loren Barr, and a sister, Evelyn O’Dell, preceded Eugene in death.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Betty, of the home; daughters, Shirley Dugger and husband Jerry of Grovespring, Missouri, Katherine Barr of Springfield, Missouri, and Nancy Shaver and husband Wayne of Hartville, Missouri; sons, Donald Barr and wife Donna of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Daniel Barr and wife Crystal of Hartville, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Jared Shaver and wife Tabitha, John Dugger and wife Amanda, Jenna Storie and husband John, Gina Barr, Rebeccah Harris and husband Cody, Ashley Barr, Anna Barr, Grant Barr, and Benjamen Barr; six great-grandchildren, Mellie Barr, Jarica Shaver, Jovia Shaver, Cameron Harris, Reece Harris, Carter Dugger, and one baby girl Storie on the way; a brother, Vernon Barr and wife Jeanne of Columbia, Missouri; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
He attended Crawford Grade School and was a graduate of Hartville High School in the Class of 1946.
Eugene had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartville.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to Gospel music.
Eugene was a farmer by trade and had spent his entire life on the family farm in Fuson. He also spent time working as a carpenter. Eugene loved working on his tractor and tending his cattle. He was proud of the fact that in 1999, the family farm had received the Century Farm Award and also that the farm has been in the Barr Family for one hundred and twenty-eight years.
Eugene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and many accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
