Evelyn Jackson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Evelyn Hildegard Jackson, daughter of Frederick and Emma Steincamp Dagitz, was born June 20, 1920, in Quincy, Illinois. She departed this life Monday, March 23, 2015, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, nine months, and three days.
On July 10, 1945, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Caleb U. “John” Jackson, and to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on October 27, 1983; three brothers, Richard, Jack, and Robert Dagitz; and a sister, Millie Loos.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, John L. Jackson, and his wife, Sherry, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Charles F. Jackson, and his wife, Marie, of Fairburn, Georgia; four grandchildren, Brandon Jackson, and his wife, Jennifer, of Columbia, Missouri, Garrett Jackson, and his fiancée, Lauren Gore, Bethaney Jackson, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Glennis Jackson, of Atlanta, Georgia; a great-granddaughter, Sage Jackson, of Lebanon, Missouri; two nieces, Melba Loos, and Marian Maxwell, and her husband, John, all of Quincy, Illinois; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born and raised in Quincy, Illinois, and then moved with her family to their farm near Lebanon, Missouri, in the late 1920’s. Evelyn attended Lebanon R-III Schools and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1939. After she and John were married, they made their home in various locations while John was serving in the military. They eventually returned to Lebanon, where they finished raising their sons. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Evelyn also worked at Wehner Bakery in downtown Lebanon for over twenty-five years.
Evelyn had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended Oakland Heritage Church of God for several years.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook. She was a very kind and sweet lady who was always willing to help others. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-four years.
Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
