Evelyn E. Vance (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Evelyn Eileen Vance, daughter of Enoch Boger and Melissa Orlean Smith Inman, was born December 23, 1953, in Ironton, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, July 21, 2022, in the Missouri University Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of sixty-eight years, six months, and twenty-eight days.
She was united in marriage to John Vance, and they shared several years of happiness and memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Murphy Chapman, and her significant other, Thomas Wehring, of Sealey, Texas; four sons, John Vance, and his wife, Tressa, of Waynesville, Missouri, Demetrius Vance, and his wife, Heather, of Rolla, Missouri, Beau Vance, and his wife, Nicole, of Lebanon, Missouri, and William Darrell Chapman; eight grandchildren, Alexis Steck, Sharon Steck, Devon Vance, Amber Vance, Johnathan Vance and his fiance' Taylor Schutt, Daryl Evelyn Anthony, and her husband, Zack, Seamus Chapman, and Zacchaeus Vance; three sisters; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Tammy Spencer; good friends, the Leonard Thomas family; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Ironton, Missouri, and graduated from Arcadia Valley High School. She met her husband while working as a waitress, and as John had just gotten home from Vietnam. After they were married, they made their home in various locations while her husband was still serving in the United States Army. Evelyn was a devoted homemaker to her husband and children through the years. In 1989, the family settled in Lebanon, Missouri, and Evelyn worked as a waitress at Bell Restaurant and then at the Ramada Inn.
She enjoyed quilting, fishing, gardening, playing video games, disco dancing and modeling. She also had a beautiful singing voice. She was a very strong and independent woman who was always generous with her time. She was “the Mom” at the Army base, wherever they were stationed, and touched the lives of many. She was very loved by her community and her family.
Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories she made for them during her lifetime.
A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Family Church on Tower Road at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that house plants or garden plants be sent.
