I will always recall sharing my childhood with you two, Lavonna and Larry, down on Parks Creek at the Pisgah Baptist Church along with Eileen, Noel and the family gatherings for lunch at the church. Eileen was one of my favorite people in the world- every time I talked to her, it was like talking to your best friend- she was always understanding, kind, knowledgeable, extremely funny, and energetic- she and Noel were the best neighbors ever. They were so interesting and always ready for good conversation and good laughs....I will always remember them. You have been left quite a legacy- they loved their family so-.I miss her..

I have so many wonderful memories of this kind woman. Like Ron Hightower, we were always amazed when they had "moved again." And I can actually remember the layout of several of those houses! I'll share a funny memory. We have always had a family dog and Joe has always been good about "picking up" the back yard. One day when our kids were young, we were down at Grandma's farm with Aunt Eileen and Uncle Noel. We went for a walk down toward the cave. There were cows grazing on this land, so you can imagine how it looked. About one minute through the gate, one of the girls exclaimed "Boy, do they need to "pick up!" Aunt Eileen and Uncle Noel roared with laughter, as did Joe and I. Aunt Eileen never lost her sense of humor. Just a couple of weeks before her passing, we joked about her sneaking out in the hall for a walk even though she was not supposed to leave her apartment. We will miss her.

Aunt Ilene always had a smile on her face and never a cross word for anyone. I always enjoyed visiting Noel and Ilene because they were fun to be around and you never knew where they had moved to in Lebanon. I swear it was like finding Waldo sometimes. I miss them both.

I always enjoyed visiting with Noel & Eileen at the old Grovespring School Reunions. Noel was my Grandpa Clifford Hightower’s cousin. Noel & my dad, Irvin Mackie, grew up living across the field from each other & spent lots of hours together. Eileen was always so pleasant & kind. So sorry for your loss. Your family is in our thoughts & prayers.
