Janice F. Lawrence (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Janice Faye Lawrence, daughter of Willard and Arlyn Turks Smith, was born March 16, 1940, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She departed this life Tuesday, December 29, 2020, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, nine months, and thirteen days.
On August 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to George R. Lawrence.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Janice is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, George, of the home; a daughter, Vicki Benner, and her husband, Jim, of Niangua, Missouri; a granddaughter, Amber Benner, and her husband, Keith, of Askov, Minnesota; a great-granddaughter, Isabella; two sisters, Audrey Pike, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and Elaine Riddick, of Rocky Mount, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated from Waukesha High School. After high school, she continued to live in Wisconsin and managed a dry cleaning business for a time. After she and George were married, they moved to North Prairie, Wisconsin and worked for the Generac Corporation for several years. In 1976 they moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and owned and operated Forrest Manor Motel for a couple of years. They then returned to Wisconsin where they purchased The Chalet Hotel which they operated for several years. They purchased several motels and hotels throughout Wisconsin and operated them for a number of years. In 2006, they sold the last of their motels and retired to Lebanon, Missouri. Through the years, Janice was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Janice was raised in the Catholic faith and maintained her connection with the church throughout her life.
She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed making special recipes for her family and friends. She had a love for classic cars and especially the 1968 Ford Mustangs. She had great affection for rescue dogs and was a strong giver who loved to share with others. She and George enjoyed going to Las Vegas and liked traveling often. They also enjoyed country western dancing. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
A memorial has been established to Claws and Paws and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
