Joan Marie Jobe (Hartville)'s Obituary
Joan Marie Jobe, daughter of James Oren and Vera Naomi (Risden) Edwards, was born September 9, 1936, in Mercer, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the age of seventy-six years, six months and eight days.
On September 9, 1953 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Max Jobe and to this union two sons and two daughters were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-six years Kenneth Jobe; and her brother Warren Edwards.
Joan is survived by her sons, Dennis Jobe and wife Vicky of Toddville, Iowa, James Jobe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her daughters Miki Liggett of Marshfield, Missouri and Kimberly Kramer and husband Tom of Phoenix, Arizona; her grandchildren Stephanie, Chris, Cassandra, Brandon, MaKayla, T.J. and Alex; her great-grandchildren Kamden, Kelsey, Keanna, Kasen and Korbin; three brothers, Arnold Edwards of Columbia Falls, Montana, Max Edwards of Edwardsville, Kansas and James “Dub” Edwards of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other dear family and friends.
Born in Mercer, Missouri, Joan grew up in the northern part of Missouri until she married. The young couple made Columbia, Missouri their home for four years. Then they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa until retiring. Then they settled in Hartville, Missouri in the late 1980’s. When her health began to fail, Joan moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the fall of 2011. In the spring of 2012 she moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Joan was raised in the Christian faith, and attended Presbyterian Church while living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She found favor in working with her hands. Joan made beautiful travel bags and purses for her family and friends. She enjoyed her garden and the colorful flowers. Her tender heart had a special place for dogs, but she was at her happiest spending time with her family, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was member of the Red Hat Society of Marshfield, Missouri.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a caring neighbor and friend, Joan Marie Jobe leaves behind a legacy of love. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories she created for each of us.
